The next day, the Gladiators secured a spot in the Class AAAAA Georgia High School Association Girls Soccer Championship playoffs after beating Alcovy High School 10-1 in Billy Henderson Stadium on April 3. “We’ve done really well adapting to a new coach,” CCHS varsity girls soccer striker Cameron Mojock, a senior, said. “I think we have a whole lot of talent on this team. It’s just a matter of putting it together. You can really see the progress from our first few games.” Photo by Mzée Pavlić
After a week-long break from practices, the CCHS varsity girls soccer team will play their final game of the 2025-26 season on April 14.
The Clarke Central High School girls varsity soccer team will play its final regular season game and Region 8-AAAAA game of the 2026-27 season against Apalachee High School (AHS) on April 14.
Near the end of the 2025-26 season, the Gladiators have an overall record of 6-7 and a region record of 3-2, leaving the team ranked No. 4 in Region 8-AAAAA. Their opponent, region rival AHS, coming in with an overall record of 4-12, and a region record of 2-3, is ranked No. 5.
“Anytime you play (a) region opponent, it feels a bit different,” CCHS interim girls varsity soccer head coach Chris Hulse said. “If we put our best foot forward, we prepare for the opponent the way you should with any opponent, with respect and kind of preparation and coming into the game, not only with a plan of what we want to do, but understanding what they would like to do, are level contests for us.”

During the 2024-25 season, the Gladiators beat AHS 1-0. This season, the Gladiators will be playing AHS after a week-long break from practices due to CCHS’ Spring Break from April 6-10.
“We’ve got a lot of girls that are kind of dinged up a little bit with some little nagging injuries, (so) the time off could actually be very good for us,” Hulse said. “The high school soccer season is grueling on an athlete’s body with so many games so quickly.”

With the team’s win against Alcovy High School 10-1 on April 3, the Gladiators have already qualified for the Class AAAAA Georgia High School Association Girls Soccer Championship playoffs. Last season, under former head coach Gillen Schecter, the Gladiators lost to Houston County High School 2-0 at HCHS in the first round of the championship playoffs on April 22.
“I hope to just end (the season) with some good memories,” Mojock said. “As long as everyone tries their hardest and puts in effort, we (can) win a lot of games, but as long as everybody does what I know that they can do, I’m going to be super satisfied at the end of the season.”
