After the decision not to invite former varsity volleyball head coach Stacey Scott back to coach for the 2026-27 season, Ward is looking to begin the application process for a replacement. “(CCHS Assistant Athletic Director Dr. Chris Aiken), along with me and administration, made the decision,” Ward said. “I can assure you that a lot of time and effort will be placed into making sure that (we) bring in a coach that allows this program to transition (positively).” Photo by Cooper Jones
CCHS Athletic Director Dr. Jonathan Ward is looking for a new varsity volleyball head coach for the 2026-27 season.
After seven years serving as the Clarke Central High School head varsity volleyball coach, Stacey Scott was relieved of her duties with the team on Dec. 11.
Scott, a CCHS Class of 2003 alumna, played volleyball as a high school student before returning to coach junior varsity volleyball and as an assistant varsity coach in 2009, before becoming head varsity coach in 2018.
“It’s been an honor to head up Clarke Central volleyball and I’m going to miss it,” Scott said.

CCHS Athletic Director Dr. Jonathan “Jon” Ward, along with other CCHS personnel, was a part of the decision to let Scott go after the 2025-26 season.
“A decision was made that Coach Scott would not be back as our volleyball coach next year, and we will open up the job position and be taking applications,” Ward said. “When we have transitions with our head coaching positions, be it volleyball or other sports, we like to replace the position within a month of it opening, and start taking in applications.”
After holding a Region 8-AAAAA record of 0-11 during the 2025-26 season, Ward indicated the termination of duties was not a topic he could provide commentary on.

With turnover in the volleyball coaching staff, Ward is looking to appoint a new head varsity coach as soon as possible so that the team can hold pre-season practices and tryouts in the spring. Applications for the job will be open, followed by an interview process to select a replacement.
“Coach Scott served this program well as both an assistant and a head coach,” Ward said. “I’m quite confident that we will be able to bring a new coach in, and it will be a very positive transition with our volleyball program.”
