A photo gallery depicting ODYSSEY Media Group Senior Copy Editor and Journalism I Facilitator Cooper Jones career is shown. Over the course of the past four years, Jones’ experiences in the program have run the gamut, but it all started as a ninth grader. “I came into Journalism I as a freshman who knew only a few others, and vaguely at that. Throughout the year, I was bored, I was challenged, I was frustrated, I had fun and laughed too much, but by summer, I knew that I had a family in the program,” Jones wrote.Photos from the ODYSSEY archives
For Better or Worse
ODYSSEY Media Group Senior Copy Editor and Journalism I Facilitator Cooper Jones has played many roles within the OMG, leading to growth.
For better or worse, ODYSSEY has been a defining part of my high school experience.
I came into Journalism I as a freshman who knew only a few others, and vaguely at that. Throughout the year, I was bored, I was challenged, I was frustrated, I had fun and laughed too much, but by summer, I knew that I had a family in the program.
I chose to continue ODYSSEY, moving into Production as a sports staffer before — for better or worse — being promoted to Beat Editor. Throughout the year, I was lost, I became a better writer, I cried, I had fun and laughed too much, but by summer, I had learned to lead.
I chose to continue ODYSSEY, moving into Production as a sports staffer before — for better or worse — being promoted to Beat Editor. Throughout the year, I was lost, I became a better writer, I cried, I had fun and laughed too much, but by summer, I had learned to lead.
For better or worse, in my junior year, I was entrusted with my own staff as Sports Editor, and beyond that, was placed in a position where it was my responsibility to teach and grow our Journalism I students as a Facilitator. Throughout the year, my patience was tested, I gained confidence as a leader, I had fun and laughed too much, but by April, I was in a difficult situation. I had to step away from the program.
For better or worse, I returned again my senior year in a Cabinet position, and halfway through the year, for better, I rejoined the J1 class. I’ve had more responsibility than ever, I’ve gotten to work with more people, I’ve gotten in more arguments with Mr. Ragsdale, but as the year ends, I know that it’s been worth it.
Being in ODYSSEY has changed and grown me — for the better.
