The two-hour and 25-minute movie, rated PG-13, follows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) with the alias of Spider-Man. The movie picks up after the events of the 2021 movie “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” in which Peter Parker asks Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to make the world forget his identity. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” explores how Peter deals with isolation after the world forgets him, new enemies and his rapidly mutating body.

This movie is one that Marvel fans beyond just the MCU’s Spider-Man will enjoy, as well. It features multiple references to previous Spider-Man comics and introduces characters from other MCU works, such as The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). However, despite the incorporation of these separate characters and plotlines, exclusive Spider-Man fans will still be able to understand and enjoy the movie.

While some might enjoy the movie’s humorous approach to Bernthal’s Punisher, longtime Punisher fans might find that Cretton’s interpretation of Frank Castle is too comedic compared to the character’s portrayal in the 2017 spin-off, “The Punisher” or 2026 Marvel Special, “The Punisher: One Last Kill.”
Whether one’s a comic or MCU fan, this movie is made for anyone who enjoys superhuman stories with a very human theme while also serving as the perfect continuation of Peter Parker’s story.
