The Clarke Central High School boys varsity soccer team defeated Cedar Shoals High School with a final score of 3-0, and CCHS’ girls varsity soccer team beat CSHS with a final score of 4-1 in the Classic City Championship in CSHS’ Water Wilkins Stadium on March 21. The Classic City Championship marked the Gladiators’ third region 5-AAAAA game of the season, with a new region record of 3-0 for the boys varsity team and 1-2 for the girls varsity team. “(The team) stacked good days of practice throughout the week preparing for the (Classic City Championship),” CCHS boys varsity soccer center midfielder Heinkel Mejia, a senior, said. “The mindset always going into a game is always to win and add another game to the win list.” Photos by Maypop Wren and Cooper Jones
