CCHS welcomed students and families into the building on Aug. 16 between 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. for the 2022-2023 school year Open House.
Clarke Central High School students and families gathered at CCHS on Aug. 16 for the 2022-2023 school year Open House, which provided students, parents and guardians with an opportunity to acquaint themselves more with the CCHS community.
The event took place from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., allotting time to visit teachers, tour the building and check out the booths and orchestra performers stationed by the Ceremonial Entrance. English department teacher Brian Ash feels that Open House is one of the best opportunities for CCHS faculty to have positive interactions with students’ parents.
“It’s always nice to meet parents in a more casual setting,” Ash said. “A lot of parents who we (make) contact with (are) on the phone and it might not be the most positive interaction so anytime we can have these positive interactions and humanize the kids (we take it).”

CCHS parent Sandy Cederbaum feels that Open House serves as a great way to make connections with her kids’ teachers.
“I find it helpful to meet the teachers to make a connection,” Cederbaum said. “I get a basic idea of what they’re doing in class, but I get that more from (my kids) so really, for me, this is about meeting the teachers.”

Senior Elijah Richardson attended Open House due to his involvement with the CCHS orchestra, which performed during the event. To Richardson, the atmosphere was different this year, compared to previous years.
“It was really positive. I feel like (families) were walking past (and) they were stopping,” Richardson said. “Normally, they just walk past because they don’t want to bother with it, but today, specifically, they stopped, they watched and they took pictures, so I think that we did a pretty good job. The vibes were really there.”
