Dr. Robbie P. Hooker has accepted the position as Executive Officer- School Leadership – High School in Henry County starting this July. Dr. Robbie P. Hooker announced he will be leaving Clarke Central High School and taking a position in Henry County this July.
On May 19, at 8 a.m Clarke Central High School principal Dr. Robbie P. Hooker announced he will be leaving CCHS. Hooker has accepted the position as Executive Officer- School Leadership – High School for Henry County Schools starting this July.
“I know that Clarke Central will continue to thrive because of the community support, strong administrative team and strong teacher leadership that is present. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to lead Clarke Central and I want to thank all of you for your support and dedication not only to your child, but to all the students in our school, and our entire staff as well,” Hooker said in an email to the CCHS parents, staff and students, announcing his departure. “I will miss being at Clarke Central, but look forward to new challenges ahead. Best of luck to all; I know I will continue hearing success stories for many years to come.”
Hooker has served as the CCHS Principal for the past eight years. His current administrative team consists of of Associate Principal Marie Yuran and Assistant Principals Dr. Sheila Dunham and Reginald Thomas. Yuran will be taking over as Interim Principal until the Clarke County School District names a replacement.
Kevin Mobley, Odyssey Newsmagazine Editor-in-Chief for 2015-16, worked closely with Hooker the last four years as a journalist.
“Dr. Hooker is the epitome of leadership and has helped establish Clarke Central as one of the beacons of higher learning in Athens. Personally, Dr. Hooker took interest in my growth and my transition to high school, which was huge for my confidence,” ODYSSEY Newsmagazine Editor in Chief Kevin Mobley said. “This year, I had the unique opportunity of working with Dr. Hooker as one of CCHS’ leading reporters, and we had a very healthy, personal relationship that every reporter desires. As a student, Dr. Hooker prioritized my peers and I’s wellbeing and opportunities to grow every single day. His legacy is certainly cemented, and his impact on the CCHS, CCSD and Athens communities will be sorely missed.”
