When asked what three adjectives describe her best, junior Cindi Munoz said, “Creative, sensitive and outgoing.” Digital Managing Editor Aneesa Conine-Nakano explores how her personality affects the different roles Cindi plays.
The sister
“I always say to him, ‘You need to listen. I have been there.’”
Cindi’s nine-year old brother faces a lot of the same situations she faced at his age. Naturally gifted, both were encouraged by the school to move up a grade level. However, Cindi’s mother insisted that they both didn’t need to grow up too fast.
Cindi, whose parents were both born in Mexico, feels in touch with her culture. She says she tries to understand certain traditions and beliefs. However, she explains that her younger brother is easily impressionable. If his friends think a tradition or belief is weird, he will try and believe it too.
The artist
“I just feel like it is easier for me to express myself this way.”
She paints. Like many others, she believes art is an easier way to get her emotions across than words.
In her art, she likes to incorporate her passions and beliefs. Marine life and nature often occupy her canvas. Her favorite piece she has ever created is her “Imagine” project. Inside a silhouette of her face, Cindi drew her different beliefs, her interests and subjects that are important to her.
The dreamer
“I want to get more than just 24 credits.”
Cindi, a junior now, hopes that her hard work will help her get into a good college next year. As for staying in Georgia, she would like to venture elsewhere but at the same time wants to stay close to her family
She shows a passion for marine biology, but is also interested in criminology and art majors. When asked why she likes criminology, she said that she’s always prefered mystery over happy endings.
Whatever she chooses, Cindi hopes she can express her various hobbies in it and wants to do something she is truly passionate about.
