Clarke Central High School senior and varsity volleyball team defensive specialist Naomi Benavides poses during Senior Night with former CCHS junior varsity volleyball coach Lashanda Young and CCHS senior and varsity volley ball outside hitter Sarah Htoo (from left to right) on Oct. 8 in the CCHS Competition Gym. Prior to the ceremony, CCHS played Mountain View High School and won the match 2-0. “I really felt really excited since it was our last year, and I know that for some of us, we don’t want to pursue a college level of volleyball, so this was really the last time that we were gonna touch a court,” Benavides said. “I know a lot of us were emotional. It was emotional, but it was really fun in the end. All we did was just really have fun. We enjoyed the moment. We just wanted to go all out for our last game.” Photos and story by Grady Dunston
The CCHS varsity volleyball team played against Mountain View High School and Apalachee High School on Oct. 8, which also served as the team’s Senior Night.
