CCHS will host its first pep rally since the 24-2025 school year on Sept. 18 during Advisement in honor of the Classic City Championship and Homecoming game the same night.
After going without a pep rally for two years, Clarke Central High School students will once again gather to celebrate school spirit before the Gladiators face the Cedar Shoals High School Jaguars in the 60th Classic City Championship on Sept. 18.
The pep rally was moved from Sept. 17 to during Advisement the same day as the championship, which will also be this year’s Homecoming game, and will give students an opportunity to come together and support not only the football team, but CCHS as a whole.
“Everyone knows we’re coming up for the Classic City Championship with the Gladiators against the Jaguars, that’s a huge time for our community. So, it’s great that we can come together as a school community to rally around our sports,” CCHS Associate Principal of Operations Dr. Tamika Henson said. “It’s the beginning of the school year, so it’s a privilege to have a pep rally. Hopefully, we can set that precedent for future ones as well.”

For CCHS senior class vice president Aileah Jackson, who worked alongside other members of the CCHS Student Government Association, creating an engaging experience for the entire student body has been a priority. SGA worked together to develop games and plan the event’s schedule.
“I worked with trying to figure out how I could get everyone involved and make the pep rally memorable for everybody,” Jackson said. “The past couple years, the pep rallies have been the same type of format and the same type of idea and games, and considering last year that we didn’t have a pep rally, we had to start fresh because we didn’t really have a foundation to use.”
The return of the pep rally has also brought new activities, including games involving both teachers and students. Jackson said SGA designed the games with the goal of making the event memorable for all students. .
“I can’t wait for them to experience all these new fun games and things we have planned,” Jackson said. “Pep rallies are really important for school spirit because it shows how much you really love your school and how much you’re willing to show that you actually care about your school.”
