Season three of “Glow”, released Aug. 9 on Netflix, follows the cast on its new adventure performing at a Las Vegas casino.
At the beginning of August, Netflix released the third season of the hit show “Glow”. It is an exciting series set in the late 1980s about a low-budget women’s wrestling show called the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (Glow). It follows a cast of quirky, charismatic women who go through the trials and tribulations of being a woman in show business.
The women are accompanied by two arrogant but lovable men, Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron) and Bash Howard (Chris Lowell), who help run and produce the show. At the ending of season two, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling were on the way to Las Vegas to perform in their show at a big-time casino.
The showrunners did a consistent job with continuing the character development from the last two seasons. However, at times, the expected lines said by the characters would feel forced and cliché.
The show did not fail to pick up on past conflicts that were never resolved in previous seasons and does a subtle job beginning new dilemmas among the characters. Namely Debbie’s (Betty Gilpin) home life conflict between being home in LA and rising her son and making a name for herself as a producer in the entertainment industry. And a certainly doesn’t forget Ruth (Alison Brie) and Sams “will-they won’t-they” relationship.
The set and costumes as always portrayed a very believable ‘80s aesthetic that will make audiences feel they’ve gone back in time.
Overall, season three of Glow did not disappoint. Audiences will enjoy being reunited with the lovable and relatable characters from previous seasons and getting the opportunity to watch them face the new obstacles in season three.
