The newest addition to Nintendo’s Mario franchise, “Super Mario Odyssey”, has captured the hearts of Mario fans of all ages.
Nintendo’s newest Mario game, “Super Mario Odyssey” was released on Nintendo Switch on Oct. 27.
In the game, Mario must rescue Princess Peach once again from Bowser, who is planning on marrying Princess Peach. To aid him on his mission is Cappy, a cap from the Cap Kingdom, who agrees to team up with Mario to help save Princess Peach.
Mario and Cappy travel the world on their rescue mission to stop Bowser and Princess Peach’s wedding in the Odyssey, a ship that runs on Power Moons.
Gameplay can easily be maneuvered between two-player mode and single-player mode. In two-player mode, one player can play as Cappy and the other as Mario. The game can also be played in Regular Mode for experienced players and Assist mode for younger players.
Unlike other Mario games such as Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 3D World, “Super Mario Odyssey” focuses heavily on exploration. Through each world, there are puzzles, games and hidden areas that players have to explore in order to move on.
Also, unlike previous Mario games, players can change Mario’s clothes that gear towards the world that he is in. Each world has its own currency that allows players to get items that can only be found in that kingdom.
The game features elements from previous Mario games, like “Super Mario 64,” with having to catch bunnies and “Donkey Kong” with the ability to switch from 3D model to 2D mode.
It has classic worlds like Mushroom Kingdom, which is the first world players start in and Desert Kingdom, which is a desert world that is also featured in other Super Mario games. “Super Mario Odyssey,” also introduces new worlds such as Luncheon Kingdom and Metro Kingdom.
Super Mario Odyssey is a great addition to the Mario franchise. It takes a different twist on the classic Mario games that players would usually see.
