The Clarke Central High School Student Government Association (SGA) is orchestrating its first pep rally for the 2016-17 school year.
On Oct. 21, Clarke Central High School’s Student Government Association will host its first pep rally to kick off the 2016-17 school year during seventh period in the New Gym.
Like previous pep rallies, there will be a variety of events occurring to engage students.
“We are going to have some games, some dances, each of the fall sports is going to be involved as well as the band and so we are trying to be as inclusive as we can,” SGA teacher leader and social studies department teacher Shannon Biggs said.
In preparation for the pep rally, the SGA is organizing their events and spreading the word about the event in and out of the school building.
“We’ve got teachers that are learning some dances, we are putting up signs, we are contacting all the different organizations making sure everyone knows where and when to be and all that kind of fun stuff,” Biggs said. “Lots of organizing.”
Senior class vice president Asela Eatenson believes pep rallies are a good thing for CCHS.
“I think SGA pep rallies help unites our community by celebrating CCHS,” Eatenson said.
Biggs agrees and feels pep rallies build school spirit.
“As a whole, I think pep rallies increase morale. I think they help to bring everyone together and kinda put us all one one page like, ‘Hey, we are one school and we’re here and we’re gonna celebrate the fact that we’re together,’” Biggs said.
