Deadpool, released Feb.12, is the comedy action superhero movie that the genre desperately needed. With a brilliant marketing campaign and hilarious posters, Deadpool will attract even viewers who prefer dark and gritty dramas.

The movie Deadpool, released Feb. 12, breaks the trend of pg-13 superhero movies and showcases the talent of actor Ryan Reynolds.
After almost seven years of pg-13 superhero movies from the Marvel and Fox cinematic universe, Deadpool shows the world the mature side of comics. Offensive, funny and violent, Deadpool proves that not every superhero movie has to have the same plot. Even with a different tone than other superhero movies, the movie is still weighed down by a dry supporting cast.
Deadpool is rated R and features scenes of graphic sex, violence and language. This is a movie is not suggested for anyone not comfortable with adult material. Deadpool steps out of the gate firing with funny and offensive jokes and does not stop for the entire run time.
Deadpool’s story is told both in present day and in flashbacks. The flashbacks show how Mercenary Wade Wilson played by Ryan Reynolds, falls in love with Vanessa played by Morena Baccarin and his horrible experimentations that led him to become Deadpool. In the modern day, Deadpool seeks his revenge from Ajax played Ed Skrein who experimented on him and tries to win back his love. This leads to many pacing issues when you jump from a hilarious scene in the present to a heartbreaking scene in the past.
The comedy and stylized action make Deadpool different from other superhero movies. Deadpool is full of inside jokes and funny one-liners. This is one of the funniest movies of the past year and is unlike any other comedy.Reynolds shines throughout and adds heart and humor to an otherwise depressing movie. With a supporting cast of actors are a great vessel for Reynolds humor as well.
Deadpool succeeds in being the anti-superhero movie the genre needs. Theatergoers will be hard-pressed to find a comedy packed action movie this year.
