Fifteen members of Clarke Central High School’s Interact Club will volunteer at a hydration station for runners in the fifth annual AthHalf half marathon on Oct. 19.
“They have to set up the water station and then they are constantly having to fill up cups with water and then we break it down,” advisor of Interact Club and social studies department co-chair Ashley Goodrich said.
AthHalf is partnering with AthFest Educates, a non-profit organization that has raised more than $125,000 for music and arts education in Clarke County. The four-hour race will begin in downtown Athens on Clayton Street and end in the Tate Center parking lot on 45 Baxter St.
“I am excited to volunteer at the AthHalf because I love volunteering, it’s a great opportunity to see a wide variety of people in the Athens community, and I get to volunteer with a great group of people,” Junior and Interact Club secretary Emma Clarke said.
