Latin American foods of CCHS

CCHS students of Latin American heritage share recipes for and memories of their favorite cultural dishes. Senior Nathan Paredes explained the process for cooking his favorite Latin American food, arroz de chaufa. “The first thing I do is make the egg and make sure it comes out right. Then (I) put the rice in the rice cooker and make sure my mom helps me with the chicken because the chicken is the most important part,” Paredes said. “Then you trim (the vegetables) slowly and put (them) in the pot. After that, my mom does it because I can’t pay attention to it. Audrey St. Onge is a senior at Clarke Central High School and the Business Manager and a Journalism I Facilitator for the ODYSSEY Media Group. This is her fourth year doing ODYSSEY and she is excited to finish her time in the program strong. St. Onge hopes to meet new people, hear their stories, represent the CCHS and Athens community in a fair and balanced way, and create an environment where stories can be shared.
