VSCOcam, an application that stores simple photography taken on an smartphone, can also develop those snapshots into a high quality photograph with just a touch of editing.
VSCOcam is an application compatible for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users. It consists of a combination of options such as capturing photos, editings with a wide variety of filter options and multiple uploading features.
When using the app for the first time, it may seem a bit complicated due to the variety of options, but with practice, one can master the app and upload photos within seconds.
VSCOcam offers 10 different filters with the option of editing within those different options. Some examples of the different assortment of editing features includes, adjusting the photo’s exposure level, tint of shadows, highlights, color temperature, contrast, saturation, sharpening, and cropping, as well as adding grain to a photograph. With these numerous options available for free, there are still more filters and options available to be purchased.
The app has been compared to popular social media network such as Instagram or Tumblr, but it has different features that makes it stand out from those apps.
A key feature that highlights the app is the absence of followers, following, likes and comments. A profile is hidden unless searched for. No one is able to view who is following who, which allows it to be a more ambiguous app.
When photos are uploaded, a brief summary about the photo is shown beneath the picture. For instance, one can view when it was uploaded and where it was taken. Also, captions can be uploaded alongside a photograph and the captions can be edited at any time before or after post.
The app lets you share images via Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and the grid. The grid is sharing feature where you can view the images of all those one follows. Also, if one were to intend for people to view their profile, they can send a link directly to them or publicize it on a social media website.
VSCOcam allows people to open themselves to the world. It is the perfect app for those who love to capture pictures and express themselves in an artistic fashion without the stress of judgement from others.
