Business Manager Gabriel Mantione-Holmes believes Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate those one loves.
Everyone has their own schedule that is unique to them. Just like a fingerprint — it’s very hard to find two that are an exact match. This makes free time in relationships very hard to find.
Whether it be a teen in school whose days are filled with classes, homework and extracurriculars, or an adult who is employed and has a day filled with work (or, in some cases, both), setting aside time to spend with loved ones can be a hassle.
Valentine’s Day is a perfect solution to time constraints that are often hard to work around. Setting aside a day for the ones people love is important for healthy relationships. And, while they should already be doing that, Valentines Day gives them a “free pass.”
Normally, large displays of affection are looked down upon socially, but that changes on Valentine’s Day. Those who want to go all out can do so without the scorn of others.
Valentine’s Day also offers the chance to find new love. Many people find the confidence needed to ask out their crushes on such a holiday due to the romantic lens we see through on Valentine’s Day.
And, Valentine’s Day does not exclude single people. Deals may be aimed at couples but anyone can capitalize on cheaper massages, dinners and chocolates. Businesses like Groupon have even made lists specifically for these deals to save on.
Deals and savings aren’t everything, though. Whether one is single or in a relationship, many take Valentine’s Day as a opportunity to show their appreciation and love to the meaningful people in their lives.
Whether it is a close friend, a grandparent or just a pet, everyone deserves to love and be loved by someone on Valentine’s Day.
Valentine’s Day can be seen as a corporate Hallmark holiday, but so can any holiday at this point. Holidays allow people to prioritize quality time with their loved ones, especially if their usual schedule does not grant it.
This is why Valentine’s Day is so important. Romantic or not, every relationship can use some love.
