The 2018 Clarke Central High School prom was held on April 6 at the Cotton Press.

On March 24, a March for Our Lives rally, organized by UGA’s Keep the G Gun-Free, Moms Demand Action and Athens-Anti Discrimination Movement, was held in Athens along side nation-wide protests for gun control in the United States.

A Battle of the Bands was held on Jan. 13 at the 40 Watt Club to benefit the Cedar Shoals High School Journalism Program.

Clarke Central High School held its Homecoming football game against North Oconee High School on Sept. 16 and its Homecoming Dance on Sept. 17.

The Athens Cotton Press hosted Clarke Central High School’s prom on April 15.

On Feb. 17, Athens residents gathered in the Cedar Shoals High School auditorium to discuss the recent alleged sexual assault case.

On Jan. 23, cross-town rivalries Clarke Central High School and Cedar Shoals High School varsity basketball teams face off. The CCHS varsity girls took a 73-39 win followed by the CCHS varsity boys loss 54-73.

On Jan. 18, Athens community members marched through the streets of downtown Athens to push for a discrimination free community.
