Dairy Queen, known for its Blizzards, released its 2025 Fall Treat Menu on Aug. 29 with the addition of one new Blizzard, the Caramel Toffee Cookie Blizzard Treat, which doesn’t live up to its limited status.
On Aug. 29, Dairy Queen released its annual Fall Treat Menu with the addition of one new blizzard, the Caramel Toffee Cookie Blizzard Treat. The Blizzard, which comes in four sizes ranging in price from $4.69 to $7.69, is overall tasty but falls short in presentation and seasonal appeal.
Though the Blizzard blends cookie pieces, toffee and caramel into vanilla soft serve, it still looks bland at first glance, with no noticeable drizzles or toppings to elevate it beyond plain soft serve. This bland appearance carries into the eating experience, as bites without toffee or caramel pieces are spoonfuls of ordinary vanilla soft serve.
However, when the mix-ins are included, the Blizzard shines. The toffee bites are generously-sized, adding a satisfying crunch and strong flavor that complements the creaminess of the soft serve. The rich caramel chunks pair nicely with the vanilla ice cream, though they can occasionally be sticky, interrupting the otherwise smooth texture.
Unlike the chain’s pumpkin or apple-themed treats, nothing about this blizzard connects to the season.
Although the treat hits its toffee and caramel aspects on the dot, the cookie element is lacking. Dairy Queen describes them as “chewy cookie pieces,” yet they seem to be nonexistent. Any cookie flavor or texture is completely lost and buried under the flavors of the caramel and toffee. This element, which could have brought balance and variety to the dessert, instead disappears entirely.
Additionally, the Blizzard lacks a sense of autumnal flavor. Unlike the chain’s pumpkin or apple-themed treats, nothing about this blizzard connects to the season. A caramel or toffee Blizzard could belong on the menu at any time of the year, which makes its inclusion in the 2025 Fall Treat menu questionable.
As a whole, Dairy Queen’s Caramel Toffee Cookie Blizzard Treat is enjoyable, especially for fans of toffee. The flavor is bold, the mix-ins are generously sized and the price is reasonable. However, its plain appearance, occasional lack of mix-ins and absence of seasonal significance prevent it from being a standout. Overall, the treat is good but not memorable.
