Burger King’s Wednesday Whopper is pictured in an ad for Burger King. The burger was released on Oct. 10 along with other “Addams Family” themed items. “The burger tastes fresh and looks exciting, but otherwise isn’t very creative and tastes exactly like a normal whopper, disappointing overeager Addams Family fans who think they have found the perfect hamburger,” Journalism I student Lucca Fleenor wrote. Burger King released its Wednesday Whopper, an “Addams Family” take on the classic burger, on Oct. 10. The sandwich is flavorful and fresh, but lacks the anticipated creativity.
On Oct. 10, Burger King released the one-of-a-kind Wednesday Whopper, inspired by Wednesday Addams from the iconic Addams Family franchise.
The burger tastes fresh and looks exciting, but otherwise isn’t very creative and tastes exactly like a normal Whopper, disappointing overeager Addams family fans who think they have found the perfect hamburger.
The Wednesday Whopper features all of the same toppings as a regular Whopper: a grilled beef patty, creamy mayonnaise, freshly cut iceberg lettuce, juicy tomatoes, sliced white onions, crunchy pickles and ketchup slathered across it all.
However, in an attempt to provide customers with a spooky treat, the burger substitutes a normal bun with a toasted purple bun covered in black sesame seeds.
Although it may appeal to customers’ eyes, the burger doesn’t offer much creativity. It features the exact same toppings as the original Whopper, with the bun being the only difference.
At a first glance, the burger stands tall and the purple bun and black sesame seeds are vibrant and different compared to its uniform toppings. The burger tastes fresh and crisp on the inside, is complemented well by the soft bun and does a great job of displaying such a vibrant color without sacrificing its bread-like taste.
Although it may appeal to customers’ eyes, the burger doesn’t offer much creativity. It features the exact same toppings as the original Whopper, with the bun being the only difference, and, as the burger itself costs $6.69, is slightly more expensive than the original.
Overall, this burger provides somewhat of a spooky experience but feels devoid of effort as a tribute to the infamous Wednesday Addams. With its price and the fact that the whopper will only be sold as long as supplies last, customers looking for a flavorful burger are better off just sticking with Burger King’s original Whopper.
