The Clarke Central High School marching band has been preparing for its next competition on Oct. 26 at Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia.
The Clarke Central High School marching band will compete at Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia for the final time in the 2019-20 season on Oct. 26.
The CCHS marching band had its first competition on Oct. 12, and CCHS freshman Trinity Haley, a clarinet player, is pleased with the band’s performance and results.
“I’m proud of the whole band, really, because we got good scores at our competition,” Haley said. “Percussion, they got first place overall, and color guard did good.”
CCHS marching band director Christopher Simpson is also proud of the marching band’s performance.
“We came in second place overall, with a rating of excellent,” Simpson said. “We have a little bit of work to get done before our next competition, but we did fairly well for that to be our first competition. I’m happy.”
Simpson also hopes to improve the performance and rating of the CCHS band in time for their upcoming competition on Oct. 26.
“We left a lot of points on the field visually, so working on a lot of things with posture, we’ll make sure that our kids are doing everything the same in terms (of posture and positioning),” Simpson said. “We’re going to add a lot to the show and visually, we need to execute it a little bit better to improve our scores.”
