The Clarke Central High School varsity baseball team will play their first region home game against Johnson High School on March 22.
The Clarke Central High School varsity baseball team will compete against region opponent Johnson High school on March 22. CCHS previously defeated JHS 4-2 earlier in the season on March 20.
According to CCHS head varsity baseball coach Adam Osborne, the team has been preparing for the game all week.
“The coaches, we went out and we scouted and we gathered information on their guys, and it was more about a mental approach and focusing. Knowing that we have an opportunity and seizing the opportunity,” Osborne said.
CCHS varsity baseball player and sophomore Walker Bradberry believes that previously playing JHS has prepared the team and will be an advantage for them.
“Since this is the second time we’re playing Johnson, we know what they are gonna throw at us. We know their tactics and style of play. We played really clean on Wednesday and we have a day of practice to sharpen anything we need to work on,” Bradberry said.
Osborne believes that the team is prepared to face whatever JHS has to offer, and hopes to secure a win.
“I like our chances. I like the way our guys are starting to hit, I like the way we’re playing defense, I like the line up we’re gonna throw at them. We don’t have any dead spots in the line-up, and I like the way the guys are focused. I’ve never seen this group of guys this focused before,” Osborne said. “This is a huge game, but there’s no reason to be scared because we’re prepared, so we’re not scared– we’re excited.”
