Clarke Central High School sophomore Anaiah Aziabor’s love for music is encouraged by her biggest musical influences: her parents.
Music can be heard throughout the Aziabor household on a normal day and every occasion. In the morning, Clarke Central High School sophomore Anaiah Aziabor begins her day getting ready with music and she listens to music on her way to school. Music keeps Aziabor sane throughout a tough school day and eases her mind afterwards.
Aziabor’s passion for music began at a very young age. Her mother sings and plays the piano, and her father plays the drums. Her parents’ love for music ultimately inspired her to pursue music as a hobby and brought her brothers to their rap careers today.
Aziabor’s family often bonds over listening parties that they have where they all play an album and then discuss the music. Aziabor says that it is a great way for her family to bond, especially since both of her brothers are rappers.
Aziabor says she became interested in music when she realized that music was how her parents escaped reality.
“I looked at (my parents) and saw that music was kind of an escape for them whenever they’re stressed, and I took that upon myself as a way to escape all the stress that I have,” Aziabor said.
Aziabor enjoys different genres of music, but her favorite type of music is bedroom pop. She enjoys listening to music that reflects her mood. On her sadder days, she prefers listening to Indie music or “chill music” as she calls it. When she is happy, she listens to “hype music”, which includes artists like Young Nudy, Chief Keef, Playboy Carti and others.
Aside from her love for listening to music, she also can play many instruments. She plays the viola, the cello and she is learning to play the piano. She really enjoys playing instruments. However, listening to music offers her more comfort than playing instruments does.
Music continues to be a special outlet for her as she goes through her teenage life. She truly loves music and doesn’t know where she would be without it.
“When in doubt, I put my headphones in, turn them up to full volume and just listen to the music,” Aziabor said.
