“Grown-ish” is a comedy showcasing what it’s like to go off to college for the first time. The show has funny characters that will keep viewers laughing throughout.
“Grown-ish” is a spinoff series to ABC’s original comedy “Black-ish”. “Grown-ish” was released on Jan. 3 on Freeform and follows Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi) as she leaves the Johnson household for college.
Zoey deals with balancing relationships, school and her social life. Even though she had high school all figured out, she quickly realizes that college is a whole different ball game.
The series showcases coming-of-age on a much more comical scale compared to what people usually hear when going off to college, but it also is not afraid to get serious at times like Zoey’s relationship with Cash Mooney (Abraham D. Juste) as they begin to drift apart.
The show has similar qualities to “Black-ish,” such as the narration style and references to real-life situations.
The show brings more relatable and personable qualities to Zoey’s character. Viewers will enjoy watching Zoey try to figure out what it really means to be grown — well, grown-ish.
