Spotify has released individual and platform-wide data recapping 2017 through listeners’ music habits.
Spotify’s year-end wrap-up is here at last. Released on Dec. 4, Spotify’s 2017wrapped.com gives Spotify listeners statistics about their year in music listening.
By visiting the site and logging in with their Spotify accounts, listeners are able to see how many minutes of music they’ve listened to over the course of the year, as well as their most frequently listened-to artists, songs and genres.
Listeners are also given playlists featuring their top 100 songs of the year and “the ones that got away,” trending songs that listeners may have missed.
In 2016, Spotify sent emails to listeners, detailing similar statistics, including some skipped in 2017 like the day of the week you listened to music on most or the artists you made up the top one percent of fans for that year.
With Spotify opting for an external website this year as opposed to an email, the wrap-up experience has become much more engaging, interactive and sharable. With just a few clicks, listeners can share their stats to Twitter or Facebook, or download an easily consumable graphic to share out.
On Dec. 5, Spotify released lists of the most streamed artists, songs and albums across the whole platform. Unsurprisingly, 2017 pop powerhouse Ed Sheeran topped all three lists (the top song being “Shape of You” one of two lead singles from “÷”, which was the top album).

If listeners’ statistical cravings have yet to be satisfied, Spotify has available another year-round analytics site, spotify.me.
Logging in on spotify.me allows listeners to see their top song and artist of all time or over a more recent period, as well as in-depth statistics about listening habits, such as their most active listening hours, average song tempo or musical personality.
With 2018 right around the corner, and a full year of potential industry-defining releases waiting to shine, only time will tell what music will take the crown in next year’s wrap-up.
