On Sept. 15, social media app Snapchat updated, giving users opportunities to personalize their “snaps,” and rewarding them with “trophies”.
The popular social media app Snapchat’s most recent update gives users the ability to experiment with a variety of new filters, geotags and to get creative with their Snaps.
Along with the new update, Snapchat users now have the ability to create funny, new faces. After tapping the screen, the app detects the user’s face. With the face detection, Snapchat users now have the chance to pick from a variety of graphic faces, a few which include rainbows, heart eyes and a monster face. With these graphics, Snapchatters can take a picture or send a video, allowing them to share their unique Snapchats with their friends.
In addition to the graphic faces, users also can receive “trophies,” or rewards for their use on Snapchat. Snapchatters can earn trophies for reaching 10,000 snaps, using a specific filter or filming a video. The trophies reward Snapchatters for their use of the app, and help motivate users to gain all 16 Snap trophies.
Although the new update can be difficult to navigate at first, the idea behind the unique addition to Snapchat is creative. It gives users the ability to express themselves more, and have a bit more fun with Snapchat.
The new updates made to Snapchat do a good job of engaging users, even the ones who are not as active.
