After placing 2nd place in the state meet, Clarke Central High School’s Robotics Club will head Super Regionals in San Antonio. “I’m very excited to go to the Super Regionals. I honestly can’t believe we’ve made it this far. We’re all kinds of nervous because we know the competition will be fierce,” freshman Dylan Gavron said. Photo courtesy of RoboGlads.

In preparation for the Robotics Club’s competition at Super Regionals in San Antonio, the team created a GoFundMe account to repay the parents who donated money for various team necessities.
From March 11-13, Clarke Central High School’s robotics club team will be in San Antonio for Super Regionals. To reimburse parents who donated food and money to the team, the RoboGlads created a GoFundMe account, a website that helps people raise money, in attempt to raise money from their supporters.
“They needed to raise money to repay all they needed for the money they’ve used this year,” freshman Sydney Gregg said.
The team hopes to raise $7,000 to reimburse all of the parents.
“($7,000) was what they added up as an estimate (for the expenses),” Gregg said.
As of Mar. 6, the team has raised $3,435 from family members and friends.
“The amount of support has really been amazing,” freshman Dylan Gavron said. “I’m really surprised we’ve raised that much money.”
Those who donate money, will receive a gift depending on the amount donated. If you donate 50 dollars, you will get an autographed photo of a gladiator in battle. Donating 100 dollars, gets you a personalized thank you from one of the gladiators. The rewards get more complex, with the more money one donates. Local restaurants have even decided to help raise money as well.
“(We’ve posted ads everywhere), and Catch 22 is having a percentage night for us, and is giving the team 10 percent of their sales,” Gregg said.
Gregg is humbled by the support the team has received from people who’ve donated to the team.
“It feels great how supportive everyone is. It’s unbelievable,” Gregg said. “It’s so exciting, and I can’t wait (for the competition.)”
