“Like a Boss,” a song written by Clarke Central High School seniors Chris Ballou, Aerick Mcgee and Vonduryon Scott was released Dec. 10, 2012.
The song begins with a catchy beat, and has a chorus that becomes memorable by the end of the song. They talk about how they easily passed middle school, but throughout struggled all four years of high school.
In “Like a Boss” the song, Ballou reminisces on the teachers that he remembers and how he’s going to miss them.
He takes pride in his graduating class, evident by the many mentions of his peers in the song.
“Ain’t no class that’s like mine, and if you get left behind, I done did all my time, man this the best this the best year of my life, I’m a G-L-A-D for life,” McGee states in his song.
After listening to this song it is apparent that Mcgee has a serious case of Senioritis, which is when a senior is ready to get out of school and graduate.
“Like a Boss,” unlike many rap songs is positive and uses no profanity. The song teaches students that they don’t have to be the brightest, nor the most athletic to graduate.
Though rap isn’t my first choice in music, many who enjoy listening to rap would prefer to listen to this song more than the rap songs that are played on the radio.
In normal rap songs, artists usually rap uninspiring lyrics, but they rap clean, fresh lyrics that encourage you to graduate. The rap songs on the radio can be degrading and very inappropriate. Most rap songs are are about drugs and money, this song actually has a meaning. This song should inspire everyone to graduate and and be successful in life.
In the future you can look forward to a more songs by Ballou, McGee and Scott.
