Relay for Life 2011
In this year’s fight against cancer, students at Clarke Central High School went above and beyond the call of duty to raise over $3,000 dollars for Relay for Life. Students at CCHS contributed in many different ways to reach their $3,000 goal.
Eliza Rothstein and Dory MacMillan spearheaded the cause by organizing the all male beauty pageant called Mr. Incredible. The pageant featured 16 male students in grades 10-12. The contestants had to participate in three different events.
Event 1. Tell the audience why you are incredible.
“I am incredible because I own many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.”
– Jesse Siebentritt 2011 Mr. Incredible Pageant Winner
Event 2. Display for the audience one of your talents.
Talents included: board and brick breaking using Tae-Kwon-Do, singing accompanied by a guitarist, completing a rubix cube in under a minute, different impersonations, dance, and many many more.
Event 3. Modeling.
Contestants modeled various styles of Tuxedos donated my Perno’s Formal Wear.
Rothstein and MacMillan (with the help of the contestants) were able to raise over $1,200
dollars in one evening, to be donated to Relay for Life.
The fight did not stop there. Analisa Boza and Ms. Erin Cawthon made a promise at the beginning of this year’s Relay for Life race to donate ALL of their hair to locks for love if the school could reach their goal of $3,000 dollars. True to their word Ms. Erin Cawthon will be having her hair cut in front of the entire school next year during halftime at one of the football games to start off next year’s fight against cancer, and Boza has already been to the barber.
