CCSD Superintendent Dr. Robbie P. Hooker will depart from the district after almost three years in the role.

CCSD Superintendent Dr. Robbie P. Hooker has worn many hats throughout his career, including stints as BHL Principal (2003-2008), CCHS Principal (2008-2016) and Superintendent positions outside the county (2016-2022). But now, Hooker has come back to the CCSD on Oct. 6, 2022 with an eye for supporting students and staff.

Dr. Robbie Hooker, sole finalist for the Clarke County School District Superintendent, participated in a meet-and-greet on Aug. 28.

The CCSD Board of Education announced Dr. Robbie Hooker as the finalist for the position of Superintendent of the CCSD in a press release on Aug. 8. If approved by the BOE in the coming weeks, he will assume the position effective Oct. 10.

Clarke County School District Interim Superintendent Dr. Xernona Thomas was announced as the official CCSD Superintendent on Dec. 10.

The Clarke Central High School International Baccalaureate/ODYSSEY hosted a Moderated Discussion with Dr. Demond Means, Clarke County School District Superintendent, on Dec. 6.

Clarke County School District Superintendent Dr. Demond Means makes Athens his new home upon his hiring as CCSD superintendent in June. Means spoke candidly to Editor-in-Chief Lucia Bermudez about his history in and passion for education as well as his aspirations as superintendent.

Dr. Demond Means was recently appointed as the Clarke County School District’s new superintendent and will officially begin the position on July 10. Means is currently the superintendent of the Mequon-Thiensville School District in southeast Wisconsin.

A community forum was held at Whitehead Road Elementary School on April 3 to introduce the Clarke County School District’s final candidate for CCSD Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Demond Means, to the community.

The Clarke County School District’s Board of Education has approved the appointment of Dr. Jack Parish as interim superintendent.

Clarke County School District Superintendent Dr. Philip Lanoue has recently been named one of four finalists for the Georgia School Superintendent Association’s Superintendent of the year award.
