The ODYSSEY Media Group celebrates Black History Month. Students in the Journalism I class created spotlights on influential Black figures in the Athens community, such as Clarke County School District Braillist and Tactillist Markis Callahan. “(I enjoy my career because I’m) able to help kids. Being one of those kids from the inner city, I always had teachers around me,” Callahan said. “(I had) coaches around me helping me. So it’s just something that’s second nature for me, (knowing) I have to help kids.” Graphic by Lea D’Angelo
