The limited-edition assortment was released on Sept. 15, and the Caramel Churro variant is a standout among its three counterparts. “(The doughnut) smells inviting, with a faint hint of cinnamon-y sweetness that evokes feelings of nostalgia and brings to mind images of pumpkin patches and hay rides,” Variety Editor Adah Hamman wrote. On Sept. 15, Krispy Kreme released the limited Fall Fair Doughnut Collection, which includes the tasty Caramel Churro doughnut.
Krispy Kreme’s Caramel Churro doughnut, which came out on Sept. 15 as a part of the chain’s limited-edition Fall Fair Doughnut Collection, is a delicious, cinnamon-covered pastry that transports customers straight into the autumn season.
The collection also introduces the Cotton Candy, Kreme Puff and Blue Ribbon Apple Pie flavors, each of which costs $2.89. The Caramel Churro doughnut, though, is a standout, and its mouthwatering flavor makes up for what some may consider a sizable price tag.
A Sept. 15 Instagram post by Krispy Kreme announcing its Fall Fair Doughnut Collection is shown. The collection was described as carnival-themed and features the new Caramel Churro doughnut, which offers customers an enjoyable experience. “The (doughnut’s) caramel is syrupy smooth, and (its) cinnamon sugar crystals melt on the tongue, leaving a slightly spicy aftertaste that pleasantly contrasts with the caramel,” Variety Editor Adah Hamman wrote. At first glance, the pastry appears unassuming, as it is a pale brown color and lacks any distinctive features. There is a drizzle of caramel, but it’s only on one side, which might make customers question whether the treat’s flavor is balanced. However, it does smell inviting, with a faint hint of cinnamon-y sweetness that evokes feelings of nostalgia and brings to mind images of pumpkin patches and hay rides.
Customers will also be satisfied with the doughnut’s texture, which heavily resembles that of a churro — warm and crispy on the outside with a soft interior. The caramel is syrupy smooth, and the pastry’s cinnamon sugar crystals melt on the tongue, leaving a slightly spicy aftertaste that pleasantly contrasts with the caramel.
Overall, Krispy Kreme’s limited edition Caramel Churro doughnut is an extremely tasty, seasonal treat that, although not overwhelmingly appealing, offers a sweet segue into fall.
Since the only Krispy Kreme location in Athens is more than five miles away from Clarke Central High School, the doughnut may not be easily accessible to students who don’t own a car. Even for those who have access to transportation, parking is limited, which may discourage potential customers from visiting the establishment.
