Clarke Central High School’s Class of 2024 alumni celebrate their attendance to Kennesaw State University during the 2024 Decision Day on May 21, 2024 in the E.B. Mell Auditorium. The 2025 Decision Day, a CCHS tradition where seniors announce their post-high school plans, will be held on May 2 and is something CCHS senior Sinai Mack expressed excitement for. “I’m excited because no one, to my knowledge, is going (where I’m going to college), which is okay with me,” Mack said. “ I want to have a fresh start, meet new people. I’m really excited.” Photo by Daniel Cruz
CCHS’s Class of 2025 will celebrate their after-high school decisions at the 2025 Decision Day on May 2 at 10:30 a.m. in the E.B. Mell Auditorium.
Clarke Central High School will host its annual Decision Day on May 2 in the E.B. Mell Auditorium. Seniors will have a brief brunch in the Mell Lobby before heading into the auditorium for the main event, which will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
During the event, seniors will have the opportunity to announce their post-graduation plans and listen to a speech from guest speaker Fred Sewell, a local retailer. CCHS College and Career Adviser Alejo Zayas, who is currently working to coordinate the event alongside some seniors, believes its main purpose is to recognize students for their hard work and celebrate their future plans.
“I know (seniors) like to be in the spotlight and be recognized for their hard work throughout the school year. It’s just a really fun thing for them,” Zayas said. “For the teachers, it’s fun for us to see where (our) students are headed. For underclassmen, it’s a motivator to get your things done so that you can walk the stage (on) Decision Day.”
Seniors will wear clothing and merchandise that represent their future college or career plans while they cross the stage. This year, Zayas hopes to present a diverse range of pathways for Class of 2025.
“Our goal is to celebrate all decisions equally. We celebrate college decisions, but also will talk about workforce and military decisions,” Zayas said. “It’s not a ‘College Decision Day.’ It’s for all students, regardless of where they’re headed.”

According to Zayas, much of the planning for this year’s Decision Day has been student-led. CCHS senior Siani Mack watched the 2024 Decision Day and got ideas for this year’s event. In February, she began sharing those ideas with Zayas, and now the two have had weekly meetings to plan the 2025 Decision Day.
“I hope that it can bring a sense of community (where) we can celebrate each other and be happy for one another,” Mack said. “(That’s why) I think it’s important for this event to keep going.”
