The Clarke County School District named Sabrina Lumpkin and Bylan Swift as the new principals of Barnett Shoals and Whitehead Road Elementary Schools on April 17.
The Clarke County School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Barnett Shoals Elementary School Assistant Principal Sabrina Lumpkin and Whitehead Road Elementary School Interim Principal Bylan Swift to become the principals of their respective schools on April 17.
Lumpkin, who has served as an assistant principal at BSES since 2019, will step into the role of principal effective July 1, succeeding Aliceson Nobles who was named principal of Gaines Elementary School on Feb. 18. Swift, who has served as interim principal for WRES since the start of the 2024-25 school year, will take over as principal effective immediately, succeeding April Braswell, who became principal of W.R. Coile Middle School at the start of the 2024-25 school year.
“I have been extremely impressed with the work done by both Ms. Swift and Ms. Lumpkin and look forward to seeing them continue that work in their new roles,” CCSD Superintendent Dr. Robbie P. Hooker stated in an April 18 press release.

Lumpkin has taught for 23 years, all of which have been in CCSD. She previously served as an assistant principal at Johnnie Lay Burks Elementary and instructional coach at GES. In her role as assistant principal for BSES, she helped lead initiatives that boosted student achievement in areas of the Georgia Milestones Assessment System, according to the press release.
“It is a true honor to step into the role of principal at Barnett Shoals, a school that has been my home for the past six years. I’m excited to continue this journey alongside our dedicated teachers, families and community,” Lumpkin stated in the press release.

Swift joined WRES in 2022 as an assistant principal after 18 years of experience with Gwinnett County Public Schools. As a part of WRES’ administration team last year, Swift helped the school obtain a double-digit improvement in its performance on the College and Career Ready Performance Index.
