A gallery depicting iliad-Literary Art Magazine Managing Editor Victoria Garland’s time in the program is shown. Despite the challenges of the program, Garland was able to find a community she could depend on. “I’ve met people that have become my closest friends as well as other amazing individuals whom I admire, which is enough to say this experience was worth it,” Garland wrote. Moving forward
iliad Managing Editor Victoria Garland, a senior, reflects on her time in the ODYSSEY Media Group.
Synthesizing my time in the ODYSSEY Media Group feels surreal, especially because I never anticipated the end. Candidly, I had the thought after every year of leaving, but somehow was never able to.
ODYSSEY has been consistent throughout my entire high school career and something that’s definitely shaped me during these formative years. I’ve met people that have become my closest friends as well as other amazing individuals whom I admire, which is enough to say this experience was worth it.
Adapting throughout these years has not only given me confidence in myself, but the peers who’ve been by my side as well.
I’ve felt accomplished, been humbled, navigated difficult situations, and grown as not only a journalist but a person in general. Adapting throughout these years has not only given me confidence in myself, but the peers who’ve been by myside as well.
As I close this chapter of my life, I’m leaving with the comfort and confidence that the knowledge I’ve gained, tangible and not will help carry me beyond high school. I strive to take on opportunities, learn from experiences, and build connections wherever I go.
