Students from several Clarke County School District schools attended a matinee “Linnentown, the Musical” at The Classic Center on April 11. The musical was written by Hattie Thomas Whitehead and depicted the history of the urban renewal that took place in Linnentown in the 1960s. “I thought the musical was amazing. It was interesting to see the story brought to life with the different characters, with the music through the acting, I loved it,” CCHS senior JeNaii Jackson said. “I was familiar with Hattie (Thomas Whitehead) because she came to (CCHS) to talk about (“Giving Voice to Linnentown”). I never personally read the book but I have gotten enough information to watch the musical and understand, but it was really great to see it brought to life.” Story and photos by Aza Khan
