A photo gallery depicts James “Smitty” Smith, the subject of the biography “It Is Well: The Life and Times of James Russell Smith,” speaking to Clarke Central High School students and staff during a visit in the CCHS Media Center on April 9. Smith, along with CCHS Class of 1971 graduate Clarence Pope and members of The Athens Voice of Truth choir, impacted CCHS senior Zadon Bacon during their session. “It was very inspirational. I think it is good to know where we came from as a community,” Bacon said. “It’s good to learn from people that (have) lived the life that I’m trying to live.” Photo and story by Izzy Duncan
