The CCHS Future Business Leaders of America chapter received various awards and recognitions at the FBLA State Conference on March 22.
The Clarke Central High School Future Business Leaders of America chapter was awarded Chapter of the Year Gold Status among other awards at the FBLA State Conference in Atlanta, which took place from March 22-24.
The Chapter of the Year Gold Status award recognizes the top FBLA chapters in the state. To be awarded, chapters must reach a required minimum of 2000 points from participating in various activities offered by the Georgia FBLA.
“Chapters earn points for participating in many activities offered by Georgia FBLA in the areas of chapter management, conference attendance and recognition, public relations, and participation in national and state projects,” CCHS FBLA chapter adviser Jaclyn Brown wrote in a newsletter released on March 27.
The CCHS chapter was also awarded statewide recognition such as tenth place for largest local chapter membership in the state, first place for their Membership REACH Campaign as well as first place for Largest Increase in Local Chapter Membership for the 2023-2024 school year.
“My first year I had five members, in my second year I had 33, and in my third year, I had 71. Right now I have about 151 members,” Brown said. “(With) me talking to students and the current students that are involved bringing their friends and recruiting other students, that brings a lot of the numbers to (FBLA). The kids are with me daily because they want to be involved.”
Brown was recognized as Regional Adviser of the Year out of 17 counties in Clarke County School District’s region, Region 15. She was nominated by CCHS Career Technical and Agricultural Education department Director Tomas Ramirez, Principal Swade Huff and Secretary Latoya Hill.
“Brown came to (CCHS) in 2020 and literally hit the ground running,” Hill wrote in her nomination letter. “Her zeal to get our students trained and industry certified has been amazing to watch. She breathed new life into a dying (FBLA) organization at (CCHS).”
