“Heart Of Stone,” released Aug. 11, provides viewers with an action-packed yet mediocre watch.
Netflix’s “Heart of Stone” is a fun, yet forgettable watch with an all too common plot. Even all of the fighting, death and spying is not enough to keep viewers interested.
Released on Aug. 11, Tom Harper’s new film stars Gal Gadot as Rachel Stone, an undercover agent of The Charter which is a group of spies looking for Europe’s most-wanted arms dealers and fighting over the Heart, a supercomputer.
Unfortunately, the plot doesn’t bring anything new to the table, blending in with any other action movie. Additionally, at two hours and two minutes, the movie drags on for far too long.
Though the storyline is very upbeat with ongoing action, there are some scenes that highlight emotional moments. While these moments tried to emphasize a deeper meaning to the story, the abrupt cuts between action and reaction may confuse some viewers.
The trailer for Netflix’s movie “Heart Of Stone” is shown. The action-driven spy film was released on Aug. 11, but not even Gal Gadot’s quality acting could be a winner. “Feeling a lot of emotions, trying to protect this weapon and stay focused on the mission while having conflict along the way. Gal Gadot brought her character to life,” News staffer Merren Hines wrote.
The movie initially presented the group working together, before changing directions as the movie went on. We find out later that Parker (Jamie Dorman), one of the spies Stone was working with, would become her biggest rival. This shift could be off-putting to viewers as it contradicts the emphasis on teamwork first shown, and it places the spotlight directly on protagonist Stone.
However, Gadot handles the pressure well, demonstrating her excellent acting ability. While defending the Heart, Stone confidently shows both her emotional intelligence and determination from the first seconds to the movie’s climax. While the plot and writing were weak, there is no doubt Gadot brought her character to life.
Audiences will also enjoy the great scenery at the beginning of the movie, which features mountain views and sunsets. However, while the quality camera work and acting are assets, they still don’t do enough for the film to stand out.
Overall, if viewers are looking to mindlessly watch an average action movie, this is it.
