The CCHS girls varsity soccer team will play Apalachee High School for their third region game of the 2021-22 season on March 1.
The Clarke Central High School girls varsity soccer team prepares to play against Apalachee High School for their third region game of the season on March 1 at AHS.
After a 3-0 loss against Greenbrier High School in their first Region 8-AAAAA game of the season as well as a 7-1 loss against Loganville High School, head girls varsity soccer coach and Assistant Athletic Director Chris Hulse expects the team to stick together during their next game.
“Our two losses have both been a result of mistakes we made and opportunities we presented the other team with in the first half,” Hulse said. “We need to be more composed and avoid creating chances for the other team.”
CCHS girls varsity soccer team goalkeeper Katherine Queen, a sophomore, is optimistic about the CCHS versus AHS game and acknowledges its importance.
“I hope we win and regain confidence going into the rest of the season,” Queen said. “Last Thursday against Loganville we lost, and I believe we need a win to boost our morale and regain confidence and belief in our abilities as a team.”
“I’m expecting that we come out swinging and give the game our best and show what we can do as a team.”

The CCHS girls varsity soccer team has yet to win a game against Apalachee, making this upcoming game even more significant, according to Hulse.
“Since I have been the head coach we have lost several close matches with (Apalachee),” Hulse said. “So I would love to come back from Bethlehem, (Georgia) with a mark in the win column.”
Queen is confident about their chances in the game against AHS and is looking forward to a possible win.
“I’m super proud of my team and I think we’ve all been working really hard this season,” Queen said. “I’m expecting we come out strong against Apalachee and work hard. I’m expecting that we come out swinging and give the game our best and show what we can do as a team. I’m hopeful and confident we can win tonight.”
