After a streak of seven wins to begin the season, the CCHS Gladiators will have senior night against Franklin County High School on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Billy Henderson Stadium.
The Clarke Central High School boys varsity soccer team will play Franklin County High School tonight at Billy Henderson Stadium while also honoring the Class of 2022.
CCHS boys varsity soccer coach Chris Aiken views Senior Night as an opportunity for the program to recognize the seniors’ accomplishments and time dedicated to the sport over the past four years. After experiencing the loss of a season due to COVID-19 but bouncing back with an undefeated start to the 2022 season, Aiken is proud to be sending the seniors off on a high note.
“A lot of these players have been instrumental to our success in the varsity team in the past three years. A lot of them have helped me win a lot of important region games and had deep playoff runs and so there’s a special tie there,” Aiken said.

For CCHS senior and boys varsity soccer attacking middle Alexander Tumen, knowing this is his final season will only boost his team spirit and enthusiasm.
“It feels kind of surreal. I’ve been in the school for four years,” Tumen. “I’ve been playing for this school for four years. It’s going to be a nice day. It should be a fun game to play.”
Despite the fact that FCHS is not a region 8-AAAAA opponent for CCHS, the team will still prepare as if they are playing a region game, although that will not happen again until they play Loganville High School next Thursday.
“We’ll prepare very hard at practice. We treat every game very seriously like it’s a region game, so we’re always in that consistent mode of trying to get better at practice. Formationally and tactically, (we’ll) stay the same,” Aiken said. “We’re not mixing up things just because it’s a senior night game, but I am looking forward to seeing all the seniors on the field at one time collectively playing with each other. I think that’d be a nice experience for them.”
