No. 1: Dash and Lily
Based on the bestselling novel by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn, “Dash and Lily” is a youthful Christmas rom-com series released on Netflix Nov. 10. Taking place in New York City, the movie centers around an optimistic girl named Lily (Midori Francis), who trades Christmas themed dares through a notebook with the cynical Dash (Austin Abrams). With many twists and turns, this holiday movie will keep viewers on their toes. Characters that everyone can relate to and the special big city vibes push this new Christmas rom-com to the Top Five.
No. 2: Last Christmas
Released on Nov. 8, 2019, “Last Christmas” is a heartwarming rom-com that is made to binge watch for the holiday season. “Last Christmas” is about a scrooge-like character, Kate (Emilia Clarke), who works at a dead-end job and can’t seem to get her life on track. Then one day, she meets the laid-back Tom (Henry Golding), and the two become friends. Viewers will find the dynamic between Kate and Tom hilarious and sweet. The movie is full of emotional ups and downs that will truly touch the soul. It will give viewers a sense of realization as they watch Kate push through her struggles to get back in touch with the Christmas Spirit.
No. 3: Love Actually
This holiday rom-com classic is a must-watch. From the creators of other iconic rom-coms such as “Notting Hill” and “Two Weddings and a Funeral,” released on November 6, 2003, “Love Actually” brings that witty and dry British humor to Christmas. Viewers can take a trip down memory lane with “Love Actually,” starring early 2000s big names like Keira Knightly, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson and more. This movie follows multiple love stories during the Christmas season, each with its own trials and tribulations, lovable and hilarious characters. This movie has a little something for everyone. “Love Actually” puts the comedy back in romance and will certainly put viewers into the holiday spirit.
No. 4: Princess Switch 2
“Princess Switch 2: is the sequel to the Netflix original “Princess Switch,” following the lives of two doppelgangers, Duchess Margaret and Princess Stacy (Vanessa Hudgens). Now with a new dilemma, Duchess Margaret assumes the throne and will become Queen of Montenaro. But in order to become queen, she had to sacrifice her relationship with Kevin (Nick Sagar). It’s up to Stacy to help these two love birds rekindle their relationship. This time Margert’s greedy cousin, Fiona (Vanessa Hudgens), who also looks exactly like Stacy and Margaret, is brought into the mix. Viewers will enjoy watching the dynamic duo back at it again as they navigate these new dilemmas to find love. With plenty of comedic surprises in the mix, making this a family-friendly holiday movie to binge this season.
No. 5: Operation Christmas Drop:
“Operation Christmas Drop,” released Nov. 5, takes on a military twist on a Christmas movie. This romantic comedy follows congressional aid Erica (Kat Graham), as she is assigned a job to sort out potentially unnecessary military aid being used to deliver supplies to remote islands. While on the job, she meets Andrew (Alexander Ludwig), an arrogant military officer in charge of the supply operation. Viewers will enjoy the island paradise theme as they watch an unlikely relationship blossom between these two characters, with comic relief and plenty of romantic moments.
