American pop singer Selena Gomez released her new song “Feel me”, a bonus track to her album “Rare”, to all major platforms on Feb. 21.
Upon the release of her new album “Rare” on Jan. 10, American pop singer Selena Gomez has taken her audience on an emotional roller-coaster with the release of yet another single, “Feel Me”, a song regarding her previous lover’s infidelity.
Much like many of the hits on “Rare”, Gomez immediately catches listeners’ ears with a strong beat, yet soft vocals. However, in comparison to hits such as “Lose You To Love Me” and “Rare”, which are quick to establish a slower, somber tone, the song has a higher energy that increases as the song goes on.
Almost immediately, the song appeals to listeners through its relatable lyrics and strong message. Gomez has produced multiple breakup songs before, tracing as far back as to 2015 hit “Same Old Love”, to the present. However, as the 27-year-old sings, “No one love you like I love you // I never cheated, never lied // I never put no one above you//I gave you space and time,” it sparks an empathy for the singer and a connection for anyone in a similar relationship.
As Gomez reaches the chorus, the lyrics begin to present an upbeat repetition that continues throughout the rest of the song.“Every time your lips touch another // I want you to feel me, I want you to feel me // Every time you dance with somebody//I want you to feel me, I want you to feel me,” Gomez sings. While somewhat basic, the lyrics do prove to be catchy due to their redundancy.
