The Clarke Central High School Army JROTC Gladiator Battalion held the annual 9/11 Ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at CCHS.
The Clarke Central High School Army JROTC Gladiator Battalion hosted its annual 9/11 ceremony on Sept. 11 at the CCHS Ceremonial Entrance. CCHS Army JROTC senior instructor Lt. Col. David McMickle feels the ceremony is an important learning experience, as well as a time to honor those who were affected by 9/11. “It’s an exciting time for me to teach kids about what happened (on) 9/11 which is the most defining moment in my life. It shaped everything that I’ve done in the last 20 years, but it’s also a somber moment and we need to reflect on it like we did,” McMcMickle said. “I’m very proud of the cadets but I’m also proud of the other students that came out and had the correct behavior in the student expectations that we expect everyone (to have). It’s such a somber moment.” Story by Luna Reichert, photos by Krista Shumaker and Luna Reichert
