At the May 17 Board of Education Meeting, Clarke County School District Superintendent Dr. Demond Means announced his recommendation for the candidate to fill the Clarke Central High School principal position.
Clarke County School District Superintendent Dr. Demond Means announced his recommendations for candidates to fill the five vacant principal positions in the CCSD, including Clarke Central High School on May 17. All of the principal recommendations were approved by the Board of Education.
“We are confident that the principals chosen for each school are the best people for the job,” Means said in a press release. “Each of these educational leaders brings with them a wealth of experience and strength that will lead these schools confidently forward.”
Means announced Dr. Swade Huff as his principal recommendation for Clarke Central High School. Huff has experience as both a teacher and an administrator in the CCSD and currently holds the position of principal at Indian Creek Middle School in Newton County, Ga.
“He is an incoming administrator who truly knows our district with wide-ranging CCSD experience, (including) classroom teaching, working as Assistant Principal at both Alps Road Elementary School and Cedar Shoals High School,” CCHS orchestra teacher and Local School Governance Team member Eunice Kang said. “I am very excited and happy that Dr. Swade Huff will be our new principal.”
CCHS English department teacher Christian Barner remembers Huff from his time as an administrator in the Clarke County School District at Cedar Shoals High School.
“I remember Swade Huff as an approachable leader. He held high expectations for students and was responsive to teachers’ voices,” Barner said. “He knows the county, our students, families and faculties. It’s a perfect fit, and I’m excited to see him at Central.”
Kang and the other members of the CCHS Local School Governance Team conducted a preliminary round of interviews before sending two candidates to the Superintendent as options to fill the Principal position.
“His reputation for being a strong, well-respected Principal was quite impressive to me when discussing Dr. Huff’s leadership style. I appreciate that Dr. Huff understands how to balance the demands of students, faculty and families in an equitable and effective manner,” Kang said. “I’m eager to begin this new chapter for Clarke Central.”
Huff will be filling the Principal position vacated by Principal Marie Yuran who announced her resignation in March 2018.
