Super Bowl L will feature the Denver Broncos (12-4) and the Carolina Panthers (15-1). With Peyton Manning far out of his prime, the Broncos will have to heavily rely on their defense to have a chance.
Peyton Manning is going to play in his fourth Super Bowl on Feb. 7. With a record of 1-2 in Super Bowl play, Manning has the experience However, he is not the same player as he was when he played in those three Super Bowls.
Manning, now 39, threw the ball for a 59.8 percent completion rate, compared to 66.8 percent last season.
Cam Newton, quarterback for the Carolina Panthers, has the highest odds to win Super Bowl MVP. According to the Vegas Odds, Newton is predicted to win the MVP out 5 of 7 times.
Although with the same completion percentage as Manning, Newton has nearly 4,000 passing yards and also is a dual threat, rushing for 636 yards.
In the NFC championship, the Panthers defeated the Arizona Cardinals 49-15. Newton had four touchdowns, two passing and two rushing, and Panthers tight end Greg Olsen had 113 receiving yards. The total offense tallied to 476 yards.
In the AFC Championship, the Broncos defeated the Patriots 20-18. Denver’s victory was heavily dependent on several defensive stands
Without Old Man Manning, the Broncos don’t have the offense to keep up with the Panther’s offense. While settling for little to no points on the offensive side, the defense will be pressured to stop Cam and Greg Olsen. Unlikely.
