The drama of high school returns to TV as the cast of Degrassi: Next Class hits the screen.
Degrassi has been a top pick for teens guilty pleasure’s since it first aired in 1979. Since the show was such a hit, it has continued to produce new seasons, which continues in 2016.
After wrapping up Season 14 (Degrassi: Next Generation), Season 15 has introduced a new set of drama-filled teens in Degrassi: Next Class.
The next class at Degrassi Community School doesn’t disappoint when it comes to drama. The students lining the hallways all have a secret to be revealed with each new episode.
The goal of Degrassi is to relate to regular high school students, including issues with family, sexuality, equal rights and relationships.
However, it’s hard to imagine a normal high school student’s life being as troubling as junior Grace Cardinal’s (Nikki Gould). Grace is dying of an illness, having to reject her best friend Zoe Rivas’ (Ana Golja) new found love for her and deal with her bandmate Maya Matlin’s (Olivia Scriven) boyfriend Zig Novak (Ricardo Hoyos) cheating on her with Zoe… and those are just some of the juniors at Degrassi Community School.
The fact that these teens may not be facing the same issues as the ones in a real high school makes it that much more entertaining. The first ten episodes of the first season can be found on Netflix, with remaining episodes currently filming right now. With each episode lasting around 20 minutes, it is almost impossible not to finish the whole first season in a matter of days.
Grab your backpack and get to class, because being one minute late means you’ve already missed the drama.
