Clarke County School District has taken a big technological step, from rolling out personal laptop devices to students, to now launching an app. On this app, students can check their grades, CCSD news and even the lunch menu.
Clarke County School District has recently launched its new app on July 27, 2015. The app, CCSD, available on Android and the App Store. Students and parents who download the app can read the latest news concerning Clarke County Schools and stay up to date on their academic progress all in one app.
CCSD and Clarke Central High School are becoming more technologically-orientated, from the addition of the very first desktops to the Chromebooks students recently received this 2015-16 school year.
Some may see this as an improvement to the school system but others may see it as it’s degeneration. Others may feel that a more technologically oriented school system will result in students being completely dependent on technology to function.
Some may disagree because they believe that it has its benefits and drawbacks. For example, students can do their work on their newly provided Chromebooks, but it can also provides a distraction with it’s availability of many sources. However, I believe that this app will be helpful to students and teachers in Clarke County School District.
On the App Store, the CCSD app is advertised as a “personalized window into what is happening at the district and schools.” This, along with it’s rating of 4+ stars, is a positive sign for the newly launched app.
The CCSD app’s homepage offers a slide menu full of icons attached to links. These include sports scores, CCSD Superintendent Dr. Lanoue’s biography with picture and even Facebook and Twitter.
All in all, the CCSD app is a great addition to any student’s smartphone. The app can not only be used as a replacement for Campus Portal, but also provides different varieties within the app such as the lunch menu, sports score sheet and a school directory.
