Clarke Central High School graduate Cherish Gresham will become a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars next month.
Clarke Central High School 2014 graduate Cherish Gresham was offered membership to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars this past June.
Gresham, a sophomore at Kennesaw State University, received an email from NSCS inviting her to join due to her “outstanding academic performance.”
The invitation came as a surprise to the KSU student, who is pursuing a career in education.
“I was kind of shocked,” Gresham said. “I knew I had gotten a good GPA, but I guess it felt good to be actually rewarded for it.”
According to her grandmother Vivian Morse, Gresham has always worked hard to accomplish things that did not come naturally to her.
“She’s always done very well, and it hasn’t always come easy for her. She’s the type that has really studied and studied to get it, but she gets it,” Morse said. “Even when she was a baby… she would try to open things, try to figure things out.”
Gresham will officially become an NSCS member on Oct. 2, when members are formally inducted.
“I’ve contacted all family members, ‘Hey, let’s go, we got to go. Clear your calendars. It’s a month away, so clear your calendars,’” Morse said. “We want to be there to support her.”
